Since last fall, vocalist and poet Kim Arrington and Billboard-charting country singer Rissi Palmer have lent their talents to the younger Triangle crowd, serving as teacher-artists while providing a family-friendly performance space for area kids to offer their own musical talents. With the help of a house band, 4-year-olds chirp “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and 17-year-olds tackle Adele’s “Rolling In the Deep.” This is “an opportunity for young singers and songwriters in this community to receive support and to have training,” says Arrington. “We have kids up there that are singing original songs. It takes me back to that safe, innocent space where I wasn’t doing this as a career.” This 4:30 p.m. open mic is a free event. —Eric Tullis
