*Side note: I apologize for the delay in this post. I have been on the road promoting my new project and just haven’t had the time. I am currently planning the next event and will have the dates posted shortly! – Rissi

On Saturday, June 20, the first ever “Relative Pitch Presents…” was held at Sola Coffee Cafe’ in North Raleigh. This show was created to highlight some of the outstanding talent I have seen perform at the Relative Pitch Open Mic in the past who I felt were ready for a larger platform. Our featured performers for the inaugural show were pop singer Sydney Stoker, singer-songwriter Brooke Hatala, and bluegrass /americana artists The Lang Sisters.  We had a packed house (standing room only at one point!) and the ladies didn’t disappoint!

Sydney started the evening off with some of her favorite re-worked covers. Though it was her first ever “gig”, she was like an old pro. Here is a clip of her performing her version of “Lost Stars” by Adam Levine:

Next was Brooke Hatala. Already a seasoned performer at the age of 14, she dazzled the audience with her original songs as well as her covers. Brooke’s polish and professionalism impressed us all and left us wanting more!  Here is a clip of her performance of :

Finally, our last performers of the evening, the award winning Lang Sisters. Though they are only 13 and 17, these two pickers are darlings in the Bluegrass and Americana circuits and have won several accolades over the years.

A BIG thank you to Sola for allowing us to use their space and to all those who came to support the young artists!  I am in the process of planning our next show and have a fabulous line up.  Stay tuned!!!

Highlights from the December 2014 Relative Pitch

Hello All, I hope that this message finds you all well!!! Not only was our final Relative Pitch of 2014 full of holiday spirit, it was also our 1 year anniversary at Sola Coffee Cafe. There were many new performers (including the entire cast of “Seussical the Musical” from the North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theater) and lots of singer/songwriter/instrumentalists. It warmed my heart to see so many young people come together under the love of music and performance. Here are some of the highlights: This young lady performed an original composition. Though nervous, she completed her song to lots of applause from a receptive audience…

Anjelica is a young singer songwriter who has blessed us with her original songs for the second time this year…
Josh, a Relative Pitch veteran, entertained us with his newly acquired guitar skills with this cover of “Lonely Ghosts”…
Finally, my daughter Grace performed what has become her “anthem”…”Royals”.   Here is a candid shot from that performance: IMG_3036 The Relative Pitch will be back at Sola Coffee Cafe’ on February 28, 2015 at 5pm. I hope to see you there!!! Sincerely, Rissi

Highlights from our February 8 show!!! (Pictures & Video)

This was the first show that had a “dancers”, you’ll see what we mean below in the pictures. We had singers ranging from 3 to 18, instrumentalists, singer-songwriters, and rappers. Rissi also debuted a song from her recently released children’s album, Best Day Ever.  Check out the fun below!
